WooCommerce first-order coupon restriction
Keep first-order discounts for first-time customers.
Add a first-order-only rule to any WooCommerce coupon you choose. Coupon Guard checks existing order history by customer account and email before WooCommerce accepts the discount.

01 / REAL WORKFLOW
A genuine first-time customer checks out normally.
When no qualifying previous order is found, WooCommerce applies the discount and shows it in the checkout totals.

02 / WHY IT HELPS
Reduce repeat use without rebuilding your promotion setup.
Protect selected coupons
Enable the restriction per coupon while regular promotions continue working as before.
Check guests and accounts
Match previous orders using customer ID, billing email and account email. Guests are checked by billing email.
Validate on the server
The decision runs through WooCommerce coupon validation rather than depending on browser JavaScript.
03 / HOW IT WORKS
Set the rule once. WooCommerce checks every attempt.
Open a coupon
Edit the welcome offer you want to reserve for new customers.
Enable the rule
Open Usage restriction and select First order only.
Let history decide
Coupon Guard checks qualifying previous orders whenever the coupon is validated.
04 / CONTROL
One checkbox turns a regular coupon into a first-order offer.
Choose the exact coupons you want to protect. Every other WooCommerce promotion keeps its existing behavior.

06 / FAQ
Questions before you install
Does the restriction affect every coupon?
No. It applies only to coupons where you enable First order only.
Which orders count as a previous order?
Processing, completed, on-hold and refunded orders count. Paid custom statuses count too. Pending, failed and cancelled orders do not.
How are registered customers identified?
The plugin checks WooCommerce customer ID, billing email and WordPress account email against previous orders.
Does it work with guest checkout?
Yes. A guest must provide a valid billing email so WooCommerce order history can be checked.
Does a refund restore first-order eligibility?
No. A refunded order remains in the customer history and does not restore the welcome offer.
Can it guarantee one discount per real person?
No. A customer using an unrelated account and email may not match prior history, and two perfectly simultaneous checkouts can pass before either order exists.
